Toronto Musical Theatre Writer’s Circle
A professional forum for book writers, lyricists and composers: both individuals and teams.
The main focus of The Circle will be for us to get to know other local creators, to support one another’s work through discussion, and to hone our constructive critical skills. The format will be as follows: people perform a song from a show, (live or recorded demo) first setting it up simply and briefly, and saying what kind of feedback they would like. All feedback will be constructive.
For this session Rob Kempson will facilitate. Rob is a highly experienced facilitator and educator. He will guide the discussion without leading it: the feedback will mostly come from the circle of your fellow writers. You are welcome to bring a recording device to be able to review the feedback later on your own.
We'll have a keyboard with weighted keys, and a stereo system connected to a laptop with a CD drive, SD slot and USB port. Please RSVP to Vincent if you’d like to attend, space is limited. The event is by invitation only, if you know someone interested, have them contact Vincent, he may have them send 3 songs from a show.
Songs by those presenting recorded demos may also be emailed in advance to [email protected]
Bring printed lyrics sheets if you think it may help in the discussion of your material.
And we’ll be able to stay and mingle afterwards in the space!
